How I Found My Way Here
by Harriet Watson

When I first found Gangaji's website I had no idea what extraordinary grace and good luck I had stumbled into. I could never have imagined I would be in the role I find myself in today. As a curator and designer for gangaji.org it is my joy to give you a brief tour of what is made freely available to any visitor, a rich oasis of support for self-inquiry.

I remember the first time I visited the website. It was a snowy day early in 2004, and I had just watched my very first video of Gangaji. At the end of the video, I sat on my sofa completely floored by the radical acceptance I had experienced. By some extraordinary grace, my search was over. But I was hungry for more of THAT. I had to rewind the tape to find the web address listed in the credits, and with my hands shaking, I typed it into my browser, opening what felt like a sacred portal, and open door.

The website was nothing like it is today of course, but the thing that grabbed me and became my daily, if not hourly refresh, was a quote at the top of the page that changed. It was a lifeline, the medicine of daily wisdom that set me on a path to where I am today, miraculously sitting here writing this at the Gangaji Foundation office.

There was no YouTube or social media in those days. To get a Gangaji video, you waited for it to come in the mail. It’s hard to remember what it was like not to have everything at your fingertips.

Here is what is made freely available to you or anyone you would like to share it with right now.

  • Being Yourself Podcast – Some of the most powerful monologues and exchanges from more than 30 years of recording, available wherever you get your podcasts
  • Free video clips and blogs by Gangaji
  • A searchable quote library
  • Self-guided Inquiries: short step-by-step teachings for those who prefer to go at their own pace
  • Community video screenings - free monthly zoom meetings hosted by staff where we show curated videos. They are followed by small-group community conversations.
  • Community hub - your poetry, art, music, spiritual awakening stories, and more are featured on the hub.
  • Social Media - Gangaji is on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Substack
  • For our community behind bars, mail-in newsletters, worksheets and digital courses.

Everything we offer on gangaji.org and through social media channels is there so that someone, anywhere in the world, just like me, or just like you, can have the possibility of that one, life-altering moment when all seeking ends. It is my great joy, in the role I now play over twenty years later, to witness others coming to the site, and being touched by something as deeply as I was.

Help Others Find Their Way Here

It astonishes me and fills me with gratitude to look back and know that I only found my way to this open door because of the support of others. Everything that is freely available here is only made possible by the generosity of our community. I invite you to partner with me in sustaining these offerings with your donation, so that someone, somewhere in the world, can find their way here, too.

“This is your resting place, your watering hole. Find what supports you, what includes you, and drink it in. Be nourished. Be enlivened. And when you feel thirsty again, drink some more.” —Gangaji
