I Am Home
Abby Stason

Years ago, I stumbled upon a video of Gangaji speaking. Something stirred deeply within me, and I had to know who this was—whose voice resonated like it was singing the song of my soul. I paused the video, searched for her name, and without hesitation, signed up for her next event. It just so happened to be the Gangaji Foundation's 20th anniversary celebration. At that gathering, I had an overwhelming sense of, "I don’t know what this is, but I am in the right place." A deeper truth settled in later: "I am home."

In that first encounter I realized I didn’t have to suffer, that I am not my thoughts, and that there is a serene, unshakeable way to exist in this beautifully complex world. I am endlessly grateful for the ongoing revelations that continue to surprise me, often when I least expect them. Whether I’m facing pain or joy, ease or struggle, Gangaji’s uncompromising invitation to be still serves as my guiding light.

“My life has been irreversibly changed—her presence and teachings are woven into the fabric of who I am.” —Abby

Abby moved to the Ashland area two years ago and volunteers in our mail room and runs event bookstores for local events.

“This is your resting place, your watering hole. Find what supports you, what includes you, and drink it in. Be nourished. Be enlivened. And when you feel thirsty again, drink some more.” —Gangaji

"I have found writing these letters to a prisoner to be a most intimate and deepening act of love towards myself, as well as a way of appreciating and acknowledging our shared human beingness."
